2 months ago today...we met our precious, little Jakob

Dear Jakob,

2 months...8 weeks...60 days. However you say it, that is the day we added our precious, beautiful little Jakob to our family.  We had impatiently been awaiting your arrival for 9 months. We could not wait to add another baby to our family to help make it bigger and better. AND YOU DID! You make us smile with each and everyone of your smiles! You even laugh now! Your cooing melts our hearts! We love watching you develop more and more each day into a little boy. You can now bat at things and are trackin everything in sight. You are still a really great baby. You can get  a little fussy from 5-7 o'clock each night but other than that you are PERFECTION! You love being held by your daddy and talked to by your mommy. You are a great snuggler and sleeper. We could not have asked for a better baby. 2 months have gone by so quickly, before we know it..youll be 2 years old! Our 28th of the month boys make our lives worth living....they make them joyous, challenging, and BETTER! You both teach us more and more about ourselves each day and help us grow into better parents and people. I love you Jakob Mark!

2 years ago today...we met our lovable, little Lukas

Dear Lukas,

2 years...24 months...104 weeks...730 days...17,520 hours. However you say it, we have been blessed to spend that much time with you! On July 28th, 2008 at 10:08 am, we met our sweet, precious, beautiful little baby boy. We were so thrilled to meet you, we could not even stand it! Each day we have watched you grow and develop into the curious, handsome, smart, gentle and kind 2 year-old. We feel so blessed to call you ours. Despite your occasional trantrums, you are a really good boy. You make me smile each and every morning when you get up and give me a great big hug. You make me laugh when you wont let me put you down in the parking lot because "cahee, coming. You make my heart melt when you ask for Jakob and give him a big kiss. You bring tears to my eyes when you hug me when Im sad. You make me beam with pride when you are helpful to someone in need. You make me feel like the luckiest mommy alive when you ask for a nose kiss. I am not sure how I ever lived without you. What the heck did I worry about each day? Who did I give all this love and attention to? Where did I find all the love you give me? When did I feel this blessed? I love you little boy...you make our lives complete:)

"Happy Birthday to me..."

This is what my ears wake up to each morning....FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS:) Birthdays are not a DAY but two weeks in this house! Lukas is so lucky...he has had 2 parties and tomorrow we will celebrate his "real-BIRTHday". He has loved every second of celebration...well at minus the few tantrums he threw at his party this past Sunday. (He decided to give us sneak-peak into the terrible twos.) Lukas is just so very lucky to have so many special people around to help him celebrate his life!

At two Lukas is doing A LOT! He is a talker, like his mom. He is a doer, like his dad. He runs, jumps, screams, climbs, swims (he can even hold his breath while swimming across the pool!), whispers, laughs-HARD, can hold a conversation, lets you know what is HIS!, cries, has empathy, kisses, hugs, nose-kisses, can name all his family members, has a great memory, pretends to make dinner, loves trains, adores trucks and tractors, comforts his baby brother, lets us know what Jakob needs, chases Daisy, sings most of the ABC's, can sing Happy Birthday, dance, loves animals and can imitate most, gives us a big smile, is curious to know what everything is, is scared of being in a parking lot and bugs, goes from being totally independent to needy in 2 seconds. Overall he is a happy, healthy, lovable little boy! We are so very lucky!

Catching up...

Jakob is just growing by the second and getting cuter everyday! It is so hard not to compare the boys but it happens constantly. We have been making fun of Jake's horrible balding but then looked at pictures of Lukas and he did the same thing...and it was even worse! Jakob has beautiful blue eyes, hopefully he'll keep them:) He smiled at ME for the first time on July 1st..it was SUCH a happy day for me! He is ALREADY sleeping through the night and 6 weeks! He still sleeps a lot but loves making eye contact with us! 

Lukas is just a HAM! He is hilarious!!! I am laughing ALL DAY LONG! Well that is if he's not in time out. It is basically a roller-coaster ride with a almost-two-year-old. He can go from singing and entertaining me to biting me in less than a second. But overall he is a really good boy. He likes to sing his ABCs and play with his trains or his newly named choo-choo-tractor. He is starting to have an imagination, which is BEYOND fun! While Lukas is very active like Matt, I really think he is a mini me. He NEVER SHUTS up! (Hmmm, everyone one of my report cards said how ohh soo beyond wonderful I was but I just talked a little too much.) He is very independent and analyzes quite a bit. He is strong willed but kind.

Everyday I imagine what type of personality Jakob is going to shine. Will he follow in his goof of a brother's footsteps or be quiet and shy? We just keep waiting to see what these boys have in store for us next...and love every minute of it...well ALMOST every minute:)

Summer will quickly come to an end and I will miss the days of bonding with my baby boys...but for now I will just keep cherishing the smiles, laughs and time outs:)
