Jakob Update

We had our appointment with maternal-fetal specialist this week which included a 3-D level 2 ultrasound. Jakob is looking good...and BIG! He is measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule, very UNLIKE his brother Lukas. He currently weighs 3 lbs. 7 oz. At this point with Lukas they kept saying he was too small...maybe these boys are going to be very different! We are just glad to hear he is doing well, I guess all this laying around is worth it:) Here are some pictures of our little Jakob. Technology is pretty amazing!

Dad of the Year:)

I will have MUCH more time to blog now that I am only allowed to sit and lay down at home! This blog is dedicated to Matt, Father of the Year in my eyes. Many woman complain about a lack of involvement with the kids on the part of their husbands. NOT ME! Matt has always done at least 50% the child care concerning Lukas. Now that I am on bedrest he is doing basically 100% of the care...without complaining! What more can I ask for? Lukas and Matt have such a strong bond and it will only grow over these next two months while I confined to the couch. I just wanted to say I am so lucky to have someone in my life who cares so very much for his little boy and wants to be a part of everything. From reading weekly updates on our toddler to changing diapers, to finding healthy meals, to reading books, to playing sports to just cuddling...Matt does it all. He may not always know the best way to discipline but is willing to learn and work as a team. Lukas doesnt know how lucky he is!

Speaking of Matt...here are some pictures from his birthday....

Bed..what?!

Bedrest...

1. Boring
2. Causes stress
3. Boring
4. Lots of TV
5. Some good books
6. Quality time with Daisy
7. Boring
8. Out of character
9. Necessary
10. What is needed. Until Jakob is born, I have been put on bed rest. The doctor said this means laying in bed or on the couch all day...does this woman know me? Lukas still has to go to daycare...which I hate! Basically my new job is sitting my bottom on the couch and watching tv. It sounds like Jakob will be born before June 4th but we are trying to hold off as long as possible!

11 weeks early...

Had a kind of repeat of my pregnancy with Lukas...an early trip to the hospital. Yesterday I was seeing "stars" at school and immediately called my doctor who instructed me to get to her ASAP. My mom drove me and once we got there my BP was 189/109...NOT GOOD! I was then directed to go down to Labor and Delivery at the hospital. 7 hours later...we came home. Lesson learned...relax, sit, lay down, STOP worrying about everything. Reality...Good Luck! I am on bedrest until Monday and need to take it seriously. Preeclampsia is not something to mess around with...this I realize. It is just so hard for my mind to shut off!!! (I will thank my mom and Grandma for this trait:) I was up at 3:00 am wondering what exactly this new blood pressure medicine and preeclampsia could do to me and Jakob. Researching medical conditions at 3 am, not part of the relaxation process! So here it goes to being a calmer, more relaxed, carefree individual! Wish me luck!

Chinese Cabbage

Oh my little Chinese cabbage how I cant wait to meet you:) This week my baby update told me little Jakob is the size of Chinese cabbage...pretty amazing. This little tiny baby is growing at an amazing rate of speed so he can get out here and meet his family! Every Saturday I cant wait to wake up and see the secrets Baby Center lets me in on about our little baby boy. Even though I read all the same articles with Lukas, it is just as exciting the second time around. I am not sure what people did before we knew all this information. Just looked down at their stomach's and watched them grow but were totally clueless as to what was going on inside? In a very short 3 months I will be a mom of not one but two. This worries me JUST a bit:) Two little bodies to bathe, to dress, to feed, to put diapers on (hopefully I can get that down to 1 this summer), to strap into a car seat, to cuddle, to kiss to love. Okay, I guess we are pretty lucky! Lukas talks about "the baby" everyday. Obviously he doesnt really get it but he knows there is a room next to his where all "the baby's" stuff is. He kisses my tummy and waves hi to the baby. I just can not wait for him to meet this Chinese Cabbage and grow to form a bond.
