Where is the fishy?

Dear Lukas,

Having you in you our life this year has been an absolute delight. You are so sweet and smiley, I am not sure how we ever lived without you. You are full of joy and wonderment. You are learning so much and absorbing everything in this world. You kiss and hug and interact with us...which brightens our days. When Daddy or I walk in the door from being away, you squeal with delight. You are almost, I mean REALLY close to walking. You babble and babble and babble away. Fire trucks and cars are what amuse you....you are truly a boy! You love your Daisy dog and play "fetch" with her. Music makes you boogie and hum a little tune. I could just watch you for hours and hours. Your eye lashes and jack-o-lantern smile make me melt. You have your moments when you've had enough and I wonder where my sweet little Luke went, but I guess that is normal. I cant wait for what this next year will bring our family. Each experience a year brings...holidays, seasons, family events...will now include you. You were with us last year but you didn't necessarily "take part" in them. This year you will be the star and love every moment of it. I am already planning your Halloween costume, trips to the pumpkin farm, a U of I vs. Purdue football game (obviously you'll be wearing orange and blue), your first Cub's game, sledding, etc. While my heart breaks when I see pictures of my newborn baby boy, I am thrilled to see my somewhat "big" baby boy climb and try to walk. I am sure all parents feel this way. You will always be my baby boy. We love you with all our hearts and always will no matter what. While you have grown this year and turned ONE year old...Daddy and I have also grown. We made it...and did a pretty good job. Loving you so much has made us love each other even more. We love each moment we spend together as a family. Happy Birthday, little Lukas. Mommy and Daddy love you with every, single inch of our hearts!

1 year ago today...I gave birth to you, little baby boy!
I just love this outfit

New bike from Grandma and Grandpa..he LOVES it!

Spending your birthday with Grammi and Poppi

Where is Poppi?

Look at that tongue!

Daddy made you a very pretty birthday cake...what an awesome Dad!

You think cake is a normal ending to every meal now!

Success!

Lukas' party was a success! Matt and I had NEVER thrown a party for more than about 10 people...60 was big jump...but we pulled it off. (Maybe we had a little help from some family:) My mom came over at 6:00 am so Matt and I could concentrate on setting up while she spent time with Lukas. Really what would we do without mothers? Despite a few snags here and there...we threw a pretty great party. Lukas was so happy and really well behaved. He got so many wonderful gifts, he's just a LITTLE spoiled. Matt and I kept saying the weather was like our wedding all over again, we get so lucky!

Maybe its just me cause I thrive on stress but once it was over I was a little sad...what is next? What can I plan for? I NEED anticipation. Oh wait, I know...how about a new job next year...that should do it! And my last two grad school classes....
